Community Feast and Forum, May 4th!


The next Community Feast and Forum
Friday, May 4, 6 p.m. in the Program Room.
FREE FILM: Planet Neighborhood, Part 1, “Home.” Co-hosted by the Telluride Institute, this program brings together visionaries of Telluride’s future to discuss ideas, eat organic, locally grown foods, and bring a sustainable future into being.

Planet Neighborhood is a 3 part series detailing sustainable initiatives. Homeowners, architects, builders and an inventor show how to use green technologies and innovative design to make change at the most local level of all: your house! Part 2 (shown in June) looks at the work environment, and Part 3 (shown in July) at the community level.

Self Care for Mothers

Every Tuesday in May, 10 - 11:30 a.m. in the Telluride Room. Mothers are invited to join this group that focuses on the basic personal needs of caregivers. The class will explore the four levels of being: physical, mental, emotional , and spiritual. Constantly giving of yourself requires that you also honor and take care of your own needs. The class will be fun, informative and a great way to meet other mothers. Bring a notebook and pen, your ideas to share, and of course yourself!

Slam 101--A Spoken Word Workshop

This poetry workshop is open to everyone. Come and learn the basics to writing spoken word, learn the tricks to keep a roll extemporaneously, and then compete in our SLAM, A Spoken Word Standoff, with National Slam Poet Don McIver.

SLAM 101: Thurs. April 26, 6pm, in the Teen Area.

SLAM! Standoff: Saturday, May 5, starts at 6pm. Doors, 5:30pm.

Chess Rounds

Hone up your skills, meet the competition, and settle a strategy in this Chess Rounds practice tournament. Due to renewed interest in the Telluride Chess Championship we're now creating divisions.

Explore the Czech Republic!


Join Frank Frentenky for this beautiful slideshow of the Czech Republic, a country steeped in history, mystery, and a secret tradition. Thursday, April 12, at 6:30pm, in the Program Room.

Frank was born in the Czech Republic and left in 1968 during the Soviet invasion. He moved to Switzerland where he went to school and played hockey and then volleyball for the Swiss National teams. He came to America in 1978 taking a job as a volleyball coach and professor in Washington DC. He moved to Durango with his wife and three children in 1996, where he is a fitness trainer. He also organizes small group tours to the Czech Republic.
